QR codes are everywhere. We use them to view menus, make payments, access tickets, open websites and find information. Most of the time, they are completely harmless.
But QR codes can also be used to hide where a link is really taking you.
QRaware was created to make those scams easier to understand.
What we do
We explain how QR-code scams work, what to look out for, and what you can do if something doesn't feel right. Our aim is to give people practical information they can actually use, without unnecessary technical jargon or scare tactics.
Why QRaware exists
Scams can be convincing, and getting caught by one doesn't mean you've been careless or foolish. Fraudsters rely on people being busy, distracted or simply not knowing what to look for.
We believe people should be able to find clear, straightforward information when they need it.
That's what QRaware is here for.
We cover QR-code scams, including quishing (phishing delivered through QR codes), as well as related online fraud and the steps you can take to protect yourself.
How we approach our content
We want QRaware to be a useful and trustworthy resource, so we follow a few simple principles:

Who is behind QRaware?
QRaware is an independent educational resource created to help people better understand QR-code scams and online fraud.
The site is currently published under the QRaware name. As the project develops, we'll add more information about the people behind it and our editorial process.
